In the glass and mirror objects conceived as series, Adolf Luther thematizes immaterial light as an energetic reality in space. This insight precedes his painterly work: early impressionist paintings culminated in the "Black Matter Works," in which he overcomes illusionist categories.

In the 1980s, the hanging lenses (Hänge-Linsen) were located on the Hoeschplatz in front of the museum. Here they were filled with life by the weather and reflected the light into the surrounding space in ever-changing scenarios.

Today, the lenses are permanently installed in front of the Peill Forum in the LHM and reflect the architectural atrium with its changing light effects.
